Add a product (and variations)
Add a product with price, stock settings, images and categories, then create colour or size variations.
Add a product to your catalog so customers can find and buy it on your store. If the product comes in colours, sizes or models, you add those as variations after the first save.
Before you start
- You need the permission Add & edit products. Removing variations also needs Delete products, and adding stock needs Adjust stock.
- Your plan sets how many products the store can hold. When you reach the limit, saving shows a message asking you to upgrade.
- Product images count toward your plan's image storage.
Steps
11 steps · ~8 min
Step 1
Go to Inventory → Products and click Add Product.Step 2
In Basics, type the Name. This is the only required text field. You can leave SKU and URL slug blank: StoreLine creates a unique SKU, and builds the slug from the name.Step 3
Optional: open Search engine listing to set a custom SEO title (up to 70 characters) and Meta description (up to 200). Leave them blank to use the product name and description.Step 4
In Pricing & Inventory, enter the Regular price (৳). Add an Offer price (৳) if the product is on sale, and a Cost price (৳) if you track profit.Step 5
Choose how stock works. Keep Track stock on (the default) to count stock and lower it with every order. Turn it off to set Availability to In stock or Out of stock by hand. You can also set the Low-stock threshold (default 10) and Backorders.Step 6
In Shipping, keep Requires shipping on for physical products and enter the packed Weight in kg (for example 0.5). Turn it off for digital or service products.Step 7
Write a Short description and a Full description.Step 8
Optional: open More options to set this product's own Shipping & Return text, Warranty and Size guide.Step 9
In the right column, set Status to Active (visible and purchasable) or Inactive (hidden from the storefront). Add a cover image and up to 8 gallery images, each up to 5 MB.Step 10
Pick a Main category, any extra categories under Also show in, and a Brand. Without a main category, the product goes to your store's default category.Step 11
Click Create product. StoreLine opens the product's edit page, where the Images and Product Variations tabs are now available.Screenshotproducts-form-basicsScreenshotproducts-form-pricing-inventory
Add variations
- On the saved product, open the Product Variations tab.
- Under Product Options, name the first option (for example Color). Type each value and press Enter or comma after it (Red, Blue …).
- Click Add option for another one, such as Size. You can have up to 3 options.
- StoreLine creates every combination automatically. Review them under New variants to create.
- To give all new variants the same price or weight, fill the row at the top and click Fill in. You can still change any single row afterwards.
- Leave a SKU blank to generate it. The grey text shows the SKU it will get.
- Click Save variations in the bar at the bottom and confirm. Nothing is saved before this.
Once a product has variations, its prices are set per variant. To show a different photo per colour, open the Images tab, choose the option under Photos by, add a photo for each value and click Save images.
Tips and common mistakes
- New products start with 0 stock. The product form has no stock field. Add stock with Adjust stock on the product (or on each variant), or through Stock Adjustment.
- Offer price must be lower than the regular price. StoreLine does not stop you saving a higher offer price, but the store then shows only the regular price with no sale.
- Every SKU must be unique in your store, across products and variations. A duplicate shows an error such as "SKU … is already used by the product …".
- If your store requires a weight, saving without one shows "Your store needs a weight for every product that ships."
- Changing a SKU later is allowed, but past orders and printed labels keep the old SKU. Changing the URL slug redirects old links to the new one.
FAQ
Not one by one. Photos are set per option value (for example per colour) on the Images tab. A variant without one shows the product's cover image.
No. SKU and attributes are fixed for a saved variation. You can still change its prices, weight and Active switch with Edit.
A variant that still has stock can't be deleted. Bring its stock to 0 first.
At your-store/product/slug. On the edit page, View opens it.
