Upload and reuse images
Add images to categories, brands and products, reuse the photos a product already has, and learn how saving and removing photos work.
In StoreLine you add an image right where it is used: on a category, a brand, a product or a home page section. Every image field has its own upload button and also takes drag and drop. There is no separate media library to browse. A product keeps its own set of photos, which you can reuse inside that product.
Before you start
- Uploading images needs Add & edit products or Storefront design.
- Each image can be up to 5 MB. Larger files are skipped with a message.
Steps: add an image to a category or brand
4 steps · ~3 min
Step 1
Go to Inventory → Catalog → Categories (or Brands) and open the category or brand.Step 2
Under Image (for a brand, Logo), click Upload and choose a file, or drag an image onto the field. Use PNG, JPG or WebP, up to 5 MB.Step 3
The field shows a preview and the note "Uploads when you press Save."Step 4
Click Save. The image is uploaded now. If you cancel instead, nothing is uploaded.
Once a field holds an image, the buttons change to Replace and Delete. Both take effect when you save.
Other image fields, such as the images in your home page sections and your store logo, work the same way: upload or drop an image, and it is uploaded when you save the page.
Product photos
- A product has one Main photo and up to 5 Gallery photos. The counter next to Product photos, for example (2 / 5), counts the gallery photos.
- New product: in the Images card, click Add main photo or Add to gallery and choose files, or drag photos onto the boxes. They are uploaded when you click Create product.
- Saved product: photos you add or change show Not saved until you click Save images in the bar at the bottom. Nothing is saved before that.
- Point at a gallery photo and click the star (Set as main photo) to make it the main photo, or the bin (Remove from product) to take it off the product. Click the main photo to replace it.
- On a saved product you can also paste an image link (https://…) in the box under the gallery and click Add. StoreLine copies the image into your storage when you click Save images.
Reuse a photo the product already has
On a saved product, Add to gallery opens a window with the same name instead of your computer's file window. This product's photos lists every photo the product already has, including the ones only its variants use.
- Tick the photos you want and click Add Photos. Nothing is uploaded again.
- For a new photo, click Upload from Device.
- Clicking the main photo opens Change main photo in the same way. Choose one photo and click Use as Main Photo.
The window only ever shows photos of the product you are editing, never another product's.
Remove the background
If you see the Remove Background on New Uploads switch next to an upload button, you can turn it on. It applies to every new image you upload from now on, anywhere in the dashboard, on this browser. Images already uploaded are not changed; for those, use the Remove background button on the image.

FAQ
It is larger than 5 MB, or it is not an image StoreLine can use. Product photos can be JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF or AVIF; iPhone HEIC photos and SVG files are refused. Save or export the photo as one of these formats, make it smaller if needed, and add it again. A product that already has 5 gallery photos also skips extra files.
It is still used by one or more variants. StoreLine tells you "This photo is used by …" and which variants. Choose another photo for those variants first, then remove it.
Yes, on a saved product. Paste the link in the box under the gallery and click Add. The photo shows Not saved until you click Save images; StoreLine then copies it into your own storage, so your store doesn't depend on the other site.
No. The images you upload belong to your store only.
